Artist Statement

Ben Dye is a graduate of Marylhurst University, living and working as a professional artist in Oregon since the mid-1990s. He specializes in large-scale public sculptures that become a destination, inviting people to examine, touch, and in all ways, engage with the art. His works are to be found in numerous citiesthroughout Oregon. Ben says that his use of mathematics to create form is an aspect he hopes will draw people to view and revisit his works and see them differently from the first to successive viewings.

About Ben Dye

An Oregonian since the mid-90s, Ben specializes in large-scale public sculpture that enables communities and institutions to make a meaningful statement about their historic origins and contemporary aspirations. He enjoys designing iconic pieces that create a sense of shared identity for the community and become a destination, inviting people to engage with the art; to look closer, to touch, and explore.

Ben’s work is installed in many Pacific Northwest towns, including Lake Oswego, West Linn, McMinnville, Tillamook, Oregon City, Canby, Forest Grove, Dallas, Milwaukie, Estacada, Happy Valley, Longview, and Wilsonville. In addition to municipalities, Ben’s art is commissioned by businesses, institutions, and private collectors.
