MIKE SURI

Artist Bio:

Born in California to a physicist and a biologist, throughout my youth and today, I have satisfied my inherited curiosity for the way things work by creating.

In my youth I had the good fortune to grow up near Stanford University's Rodin Sculpture Garden. My mother would take me there to visit the massive figures. Continuing to visit the garden in later years, unwittingly soaking in the dynamic nature of these sculptures, the emotion of his massive characters instilled in me a need to create work with solidity.

My education has been mentorship and diligent practice. I have made a point to seek out individuals who use their hands and minds in ways that resonate. These experiences taught me perseverance. Hard work and focus are by products of the insatiable need to continue on the path as a sculptor.
