Artist Statement: Wanting to add color and life to a blank brick wall near Puyallup's Farmer's Market, I made this weather proofimage of my mother's homeland's flower.
Bio: As the child of a mother who writes and paints, and a father who was a musician and vocalist, it Is no surprise that Grace Nirschl has spent her entire life doing all four... and more. Her three children, 18, 16, and 9, and husband of 22 years In Puyallup, are also living a life Immersed with arts. They all sing, act and dance In musical theater productions with ASTRA.
Only recently has she answered the call from within to sculpt with fire and metal. "The desire to sculpt has been burning for many years now. It's a relief to finally be honoring the call by actually doing it."
Up until now Nlrschl has been capturing moving flowers with her abstract "wind-blown" painting series with fluid-acrylic on canvass or paper. Almost every high-energy painting is peppered with at least a few loud music notes.
